Mid-Century Gem Half Mile Walk Downtown
Just a short walk from downtown San Luis Obispo, this unique home is a peaceful sanctuary that makes you feel like you’re in your own private retreat the minute you walk through the doors. The many wonderful features of this home include an open floor plan, high ceilings, lots of light filtering through the many trees that surround the property, cork flooring, and many windows and sliding glass doors that look out on beautiful creek, garden, and mountain views. The entire house is paneled with redwood panels and a sunken fireplace is an inviting gathering place for chats, playing music, or just taking a nap in a pile of floor pillows. This home was designed by a well known local architect in the 1960s, and was his home for many years. It has a wonderful retro vibe.
One wing of the upstairs is devoted to the master suite which includes the bedroom with a king bed, a large dressing room/closet area, and a bathroom with a walk in shower. The other half of the upstairs includes another full bath with tub/shower, and three bedrooms, two with a queen bed and one with a full bed. The unique design of these three bedrooms allows for maximum flexibility to suit your needs. Two or all three bedrooms can be combined to provide a larger suite or a great shared space for older kids or for a girlfriend getaway slumber party. But unless you specifically request otherwise, the house will have four separate bedrooms, each with it’s own door opening onto the upstairs landing.
The yard is framed with some of the largest redwood trees in the area and has decks all around the house and a large bricked patio area. A seasonal creek runs through the property and offers some lovely views.
