Super Bloom: Top Wildflower Spots around San Luis Obispo
Spring has sprung in San Luis Obispo and thanks to the rain this winter, San Luis Obispo is lucky enough to be experiencing a “super bloom” right now! This newsworthy natural event is attracting visitors and locals alike to venture out to the wildflower fields. Complementing the vibrant green landscape, you can spot pops of orange, purple and yellow throughout the rolling hills, creating quite a majestic experience.
Thousands of people, including myself, are flocking to the Carrizo Plain National Monument in Santa Margarita, known for its vibrant California poppy fields and beautiful lupine patches. People have called the experience “something out of a dream” and “truly unbelievable.”
Located about an hour and a half east of San Luis Obispo, the Carrizo Plain National Monument is a bucket list place to visit with its expansive colorful landscapes, but be sure to explore San Luis Obispo, too. Right in San Luis Obispo, people can experience the sight of goldfields, lupines, poppies, delphinium and other bright spring wildflowers sprinkled throughout the hillsides.
